What is GRC?
The facade of the building is one of the important issues that all those involved in the construction industry are engaged in. One of the most suitable materials for the facade of modern or traditional buildings is the use of GFRC facade (GRC facade) and in other words, the facade of reinforced concrete with glass fibers or GFRC or GRC concrete.
As its name implies, it is concrete that has been reinforced with glass fibers due to the sharing of silica in cement, a crystallization is created between concrete and fibers, which will increase the tensile strength of concrete and as a result, it prevents the formation superficial and deep cracks in concrete to an appropriate extent. In addition to increasing tensile strength, the utilization of glass fibers in concrete increases abrasion resistance, fire resistance, and mechanical strength.
History of GFRC concrete:
GFRC was formed in 1940 by the Russians, who used basalt fibers in order to reinforce concrete, however after World War II due to the heavy volume of construction in European countries and the lack of basalt fibers because of the environmental conditions of these countries they used glass fibers as an alternative fiber and were widely used in the industrialization of buildings and since 1970 have been used in special architectures and decorative aspects, especially in developing Muslim countries such as Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Arabic, and Turkish have found a special place due to the possibility of use in Islamic architecture. Also in Iran, in the late seventies and early eighties, GRC or GFRC was used in several projects, but due to the reluctance of employers as well as the difficulties of its production, this product was not welcomed. In recent years, with the increase of information from investors, construction engineers, consultants, architects, and exhibitors, as well as the elimination of production defects, this product has found its place in the domestic market and is known as one of the suitable materials for use in building facades.
Materials used to make GFRC concrete facade panels:
The main pieces of GRC concrete or GFRC concrete are a combination of water, cement (black or white), and aggregate, which is generally made of silica aggregates with a specific granulation as well as glass fibers. To improve the properties of concrete, additives, solvent polymers and pigments can be used so that the basic parameters in its chemical structure are improved.
GFRC concrete installation and execution methods:
Usually, the basic and recommended installation method is a dry running system which needs a structure as an infrastructure that is installed on the main structure and then the panels with different details such as welding pieces to the substructure, connecting through screws or framing and placing the panels in the frames is possible. However, sometimes due to the insistence of employers to reduce the implementation costs and also the lack of familiarity with the benefits of new facade systems, they insist on the old system of installation through mortar. In this case, it can be done by scooping by placing galvanized wires inside the panels.
Introducing the GFRC facade of Sorin Company
GFRC facade GFRC is one of the flexible, flexible, and diverse materials in the implementation of modern and traditional facades. With the help of the high ductility and strength of concrete, this product offers stunning traditional and modern facades that are needed by architects, designers, and employers in different designs and colors.
The Sorin Concrete Company as a manufacturer and executor of modern and traditional facades using GFRC material, considering the Iranian climate and original architecture, as well as the interest in implementing modern facades using GFRC, has started to produce and implement a variety of modern and traditional facades with different designs and colors.
GFRC is one of the well-known facades in international markets. In this product, with the help of ductility and strength of concrete, strong, beautiful, and dazzling pieces that are needed by architects and designers are provided in different designs and colors.
With the help of experienced engineers and designers, The Sorin Concrete Company is known as the most active company in the production and manufacture of GFRC facade pieces in recent years so, during these years, the production line of The Sorin Concrete Company factory has increased from one production line to nine active production lines to produce pieces with different shapes and dimensions.
Extensive research in the field of improving the mechanical properties and performance of GFRC with the help of the Research and Development Department (R&D) of The Sorin Concrete Company and cooperation with national and international institutions in the field of GFRC research centers has caused our customers to be completely satisfied with the products produced in the Sorin factory.
Having suitable mechanical properties such as compressive and fracture resistance, tensile, abrasion resistance, weather resistance (melting and freezing), corrosion and acid resistance (due to rain), and having integration when broken, GFRC facade panels produced by Sorin Company are good options for designing the facades of buildings with traditional or modern architecture.
Moreover, the design and paintability of concrete provide us to offer GFRC concrete in different designs and colors in the market.
The Sorin Concrete Company is ready to design and produce pieces according to the needs of the employer so that it can produce in any proposed design with any dimensions, which includes the following:
1- Design and production of a large panel of GFRC facade
2- Design and production of GFRC complex facades such as crooked facades and GFRC domes
3- Design and production of parametric facades using GFRC materials
4- Design and production of common GFRC facades such as traditional (Iranian) GFRC facades and modern GFRC facades
